Can you Survive the Climate?
The climate of literature is changing. Our society has embraced fast information and has settled into reading headlines and shouting on mountaintops defending an attention grabbing statement that intrigues the reader but is not entirely true. A nation that hungers for right now information/misinformation and instant gratification will not survive what may be coming next in the community of the world. Words, characters, and content play a vital role when appropriately communicating written thought. Words are a powerful web that string together ideas, community standards, and principals. Characters in stories provoke the yearning of likeness and individuals seek to conform to role-players they desire to emulate, exposing behavior and troubling desires when left unchecked. Content seeded into the endless fields of the mind’s imagination grow and manifest into crops of behavior. A mental field without proper management will be overrun and immoral reasoning will clash with community standards and ethics. The blending of unmanaged ideas and glorification of damaging behavior has molded the minds of readers that have not learned to process heavy information. Moreover, the content of literature and inability to focus the mind for extended periods of time without a variety of external distractions has led to other means to feel the emptiness that lives between the short blips of superficial amusement. As these spells of spending time alone in thought expand, people begin to realize they do not like what they see and it becomes unbearable. Studies show that this may lead to substance missuses and/or suicidal ideation.
