Why Murder Justified?

I didn’t pick the title of the story until I finished the novel because I didn’t want to restrict my ideas by trying to force the story to match the title. However, after I finished the story, I felt that Murder Justified was the perfect fit because of Duane Cooper’s internal struggle to stay the course of his moral compass while trying to protect a nation. Duane Cooper doesn’t want to take lives because he fears there could be a moment when he crossed the line and become a murderer.

There was a self-reflective moment in my life when I struggled with the thought of being able to take the life of another person if there was a need to save another. After deep thought and thorough consideration, I concluded the answer was yes. I pray I never have to take a life but; if I had to, it would be for the right reason and justified. But the thought that haunted me is our enemies also feel justified in their actions and we call them murderers. So what do they see us as?

I cross-examined the word kill with the word murder and believe they are completely different. Both words are tied to the action of taking a life but the motive and the reason behind taking a life are completely different. It all depends on the heart of the person. There must be a code that affords us the ability to protect and the leeway to use the force necessary to help those who can’t help themselves. Duane Cooper will kill to protect while his enemies kill to cause harm and they believe murder is justified. That is why I tell Duane Cooper’s story in confidence and his introduction to the world of books is under the banner, Murder Justified.
