Building a Future in a Harsh Environment

When I created Thoughtful Pages, I first created a product that would represent the company’s vision. I wrote a story that I felt needed to be told to the world and this became the vehicle to accomplish my goal.

The product: Murder Justified: A Duane Cooper Story. The novel is riddled with ideals that have already sparked conversations about social issues and philosophy found in U.S American subculture while maintaining high caliber entertainment value as an action thriller.

My vision is clear because I started with a well-built foundation of what my company stands for and believes in. Why am I telling you this? Well, I wanted to encourage readers that have their own vison to accomplish their goal and to not give up while maintaining practicality. There is work that needs to be done but you must continue the good fight of working toward your goal even when you do not feel like change is happening. To get to where I am today, I went through a self-evaluation to map out a strategy to grow my company and accomplish my dreams. There are times when I asked myself if I was good enough or if I knew the right people in the business world, but the main thing is that my work ethic and lifestyle spoke for itself. Before I knew it, I realized that validation from others was not important because my work was a literary art and soon other talented individuals offered their skill sets to take my product and company to the next level. Thank you, Rachel, you are awesome.

  1. I have always wanted to work for myself, but how could that be if I didn’t have a business?

  2. How could I have a business without a vision?

  3. How could I attain my vision without substance/product?

  4. With hard work and dedication, my first literary work, a novel, became the substance/product and driving force behind my company, Thoughtful Pages.

  5. Reassess and evaluate the methods used to accomplish the goal without compromising the vision.

These are steps that I have taken to build my publishing company and with great success I have grown as a businessman and published author. In all honesty, I do not sell books every single day, but I adapt. When sales are pouring in, I keep the processing and shipping efficient but when the dry spells come, I sharpen my skills in other areas of the business and work on marketing, administrative task, logistics, and other projects.

If you won’t work for you, how can you expect others to want to work for you? Fight the good fight, press on, and work hard because your dream matters.
